Pre-Conference Workshops GGAA 2016 invites you to register your expression of interest in attending Pre-conference workshops to be held at the Ellinbank Dairy Research Centre on Wednesday 10 - 11 February 2016 ( SF6 methane measurement technique workshop ) or Friday 12th February 2016 (open circuit respiration chambers workshop). About the Ellinbank Dairy Research Centre Ellinbank is 110 km south-east of Melbourne and is set in the foothills of the rolling Strzelecki Ranges of West Gippsland, Victoria. Ellinbank is home to the National Centre for Dairy Research and Development. Ellinbank has a long history of generating research that is used by Australia's dairy farmers; dairy research has been carried out at the site since the 1950s. This has ensured Australia is one of the most efficient dairy producers in the world. Research is carried out on the site's herd of 500 dairy cows. Recent projects have included research into supplementing pasture with feedlots and measuring the effect of various feed types on methane emissions, soils and nutrient management. To facilitate the research programs, Ellinbank is set on a 217 hectare research farm. There is also modern infrastructure including 8 open circuit respiration chambers (two different designs), a modern dairy, and a feeding complex.
